Sekeramayi and Parirenyatwa demand $20 000 in damages from Mutodi for defamation over poisoning allegations
Defence Minister Sydney Sekeramayi and Health Minister David Parirenyatwa have written to Energy Mutodi demanding $20 000 in defamation damages. The two ministers, through their lawyer, Dzikamai Machinura, have also demanded that Mutodi should retract his Facebook post and apologise. This comes after Mutodi, who has publicly declared his support for Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa, wrote a Facebook post in which he alleged that the two minister were the main suspects in the poisoning of Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
Paty of the letter written to Mnangagwa reads:
We have therefore been instructed to demand from you that you immediately and forthwith remove the offending post from your Facebook timeline and pay defamation damages in the amount of $20 000 for our respective clients.
FeedbackMutodi has since been released on bail after he was arrested for the post. He claims that he now fears for his life and has already advised the United States embassy and the United Nations of this.
