New Cyber Security Ministry Is Crucial- George Charamba
Presidential spokesperson George Charamba has described the new Ministry of Cyber Security, Threat Detection and Mitigation as a crucial portfolio needed to combat the threats being faced by Zimbabwe and neighboring countries. Former Minister of Finance Patrick Chinamasa was appointed as Zimbabwe’s first ever Minister of cyber security after a cabinet reshuffle on Monday.
Speaking to journalists at the swearing in ceremony for the new ministers at the State House, Charamba said President Mugabe came up with the new ministry after discussions t the recent Zimbabwe-South Africa Bi-National Commission in South Africa coupled with the panic buying and commodity hoarding that occurred last month. The government has blamed social media for spreading fear which caused the panic buying.
