G40 plans anti-Mnangagwa demo
A Zanu-PF source told NewsDay that the G40 Faction is plotting a demonstration against former Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa. The demonstrators will demand President Robert Mugabe to fire Mnangagwa from the Party. The demonstration is meant to coincide with the politburo meeting in the capital today.
Zanu PF Harare provincial commissar Shadreck Mashayamombe confirmed that there will be a gathering but dismissed reports that they are planning a demonstration against Mnangagwa. He said the gathering is meant to thank Grace Mugabe and her husband. Said Mashayamombe:
We have a programme tomorrow. It will just be a show of support for the President. We want to thank him and the First Lady for continuously discharging their duties diligently in both the party and government. It will have nothing to do with that one (Mnangagwa) who was fired.
FeedbackZanu PF youth league political commissar Innocent Hamandishe said they were meeting to plan for next month’s extraordinary congress and claimed youths could not force Mugabe to fire Mnangagwa.
