"Was Mnangagwa involved in Itai's abduction?": Patson Dzamara asks Jonathan Moyo

Activist, author and motivational speaker Patson Dzamara asked Higher Education Minister Professor Jonathan Moyo on micro blogging site Twitter if former Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa was involved in the abduction of his brother Itai Dzamara. Itai was abducted on the morning of 9 March 2015 when Mnangagwa was still Justice Minister.

In January 2016, The Itai Dzamara Trust led by Bishop Ancelimo Magaya engaged then Vice President and Justice Minister, Emmerson Mnangagwa over Government’s lack of support in the search for Itai Dzamara. Said Patson Dzamara:

Dzamara’s inquiry comes after an article by CDE Nathaniel on Nehanda Radio, urging the ousted Vice President who is in exile to disclose Itai Dzamara’s whereabouts. Nathaniel claims that Mnangagwa should disclose Dzamara’s whereabouts so that he earns sympathy from Zimbabweans. Writes Nathaniel:

So today I want to ask Cde E.D

Where is Dzamara? Aripi?

Who took him? Ndiani Akamutora?

Where did they put him? Vakamuisepi?

What became of him? Chii Chakaitika kwaari?

Failure to shed some light on this particular injustice will mean that E.D. does not deserve our sympathy and support. So comrade E.D. if you and your supporters are reading this, please tell us what became of our brother Dzamara. Surely, you were in a position to be privy to such information and now you have the golden opportunity to expose the facts of his predicament.

Since his ouster from Zanu-PF and Government, Mnangagwa has been accused of money laundering, treason, sponsoring a terror group in Kwekwe among other allegations. It would not be surprising if the Zanu-PF Government accuses him of masterminding Dzamara’s abduction. Mnangagwa has also been said to have played an active role in the Gukurahundi atrocities and there have been calls for him to be prosecuted now that he has been ousted from Government. Mnangagwa who was then State Security minister, has denied involvement in the Gukurahundi massacres.
