Chinese delegation meets Mugabe

A Chinese delegation led by China’s Assistant Foreign Affairs Minister Mr Chen Xiaodong paid a courtesy call on former President, Robert Mugabe. The meeting was confirmed by Permanent secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Joey Bimha, who also attended the meeting.

Said Bimha:

Yes, he (Mr Chen) met Cde Mugabe. He has come with a special message from President Xi Jinping to the new President Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa They (Mr Chen and Cde Mugabe) discussed a range of bilateral issues, including a review of projects submitted to China by Zimbabwe.

Chen told journalists that his visit is meant to show China’s support for Zimbabwe’s new administration.
