Zanu-PF MP Arrested For Corruption, Admitted In Hospital Under Police Guard
Insiza North MP Andrew Langa (Zanu-PF) has been arrested by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC).
Langa has been hospitalised at Mater Dei in Bulawayo where he is guarded by police. There are reports that he is suffering from high blood pressure and there are fears of a mild stroke. His arrest relates to alleged corruption over the 2014 Africa Union Region 5 Youth Games at a time when he was Minister of Sport, arts and Culture.
There were issues over non payment of suppliers who were contracted for the African Union Sports Council Region 5 Youth Games despite revelations by Langa that Government had poured $12 million for infrastructure and $3,6 million towards operations. When contacted by the Daily News in December 2014, over the issue, Langa downplayed the controversies that were surrounding the Africa Union Region 5 Youth Games.
