Zanu-PF Bans Mugabe's Relative
Former Mines and Mining Development Minister Walter Chidhakwa has been banned from carrying out any Zanu-PF related activities for 14 days.
In a letter to Chidhakwa dated March 12, 2018, Mashonaland West Province Disciplinary Committee chairperson Keith Guzah accused the former mines minister of engaging with members of the G40 faction and plotting to oust President Emmerson Mnangagwa. Other charges include corruption at party and Government levels, abuse of office and aiding and abating criminal elements around the former president Robert Mugabe, with the view to tarnish President Mnangagwa’s image.
Chidhakwa was ousted from office in November last year when President Mnangagwa announced a new Cabinet following Operation Restore Legacy. He was arrested on charges of corruption in December and again last month together with his former permanent secretary Professor Francis Gudyanga on a separate charges of abuse of office.
