Mugabe Endorsed NPF Speaks On Party Leadership
National Patriotic Front (NPF) led by Ambrose Mutinhiri said it will reveal its leadership after consultations that will ensure it has grassroots support.
NPF spokesperson Jealousy Mawarire told The Standard that the party had delayed unveiling its national executive because they had taken Robert Mugabe’s advice on the kind of political movement that they should establish. So far Mawarire and Mutinhiri are the only known members of the party. Said Mawarire:
(Former) president Robert Mugabe emphasised the need for a patriotic front whose major anchor is ‘unity, unity, unity’, that is why we are embarking on a national project of a grand nature, one that will bring together as many Zimbabweans from across the political divide as possible. What Zimbabweans need is a patriotic front that harnesses the strength in our diversity, a platform that utilises the different socio-political and economic skills prevalent in our people that can bring about unity, prosperity and development for our country. So, yes, we are consulting with other opposition players with a view to making NPF the platform, the glue that unites our people for a common purpose of returning the country to constitutionalism and ensuring we are on an economic recovery path that is imperative in order to arrest the current economic and political decay. We are working towards a broad movement, a grand platform for national political convergence and the few weeks to come are going to be exciting and will re-energise our people.Feedback
