China Trip A Success Says Mnangagwa After Signing 7 MoUs
In an interview with the China Global Television Network yesterday, President Emmerson Mnangagwa said his State visit to China which began on Monday and ends tomorrow, has been very successful.
This comes after China and Zimbabwe signed at least seven Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) which include the refurbishment of Hwange Power Station Units 7 and 8 as well as the setting up of offices by the China Communication Construction Company. Said Mnangagwa:
While my visit to the People’s Republic of China has been my first State visit outside Africa, it has been a resounding success. We had a very long discussion with President Xi Jinping and we covered an array of issues political, economic, regional and international. I am so happy with the chemistry that has developed between us. Zimbabwe is going through a new dispensation and there is a lot of hope and expectation, so we have come to the People’s Republic of China as our first port of call outside Africa and I am hopeful that the assistance in terms of grants and loans will see help us greatly.
