Cricketers Issue Ultimatum Over Unpaid Allowances, Salaries, Threaten Boycott Of Australia, Pakistan Series
Zimbabwe cricket players have boycotted training and have issued an ultimatum to Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC). The players who are owed three months’ salary and match fees say that unless these are paid by June 25, 2018, they will not be taking part in the July’s Twenty20 International (T20I) tri-series with Australia and Pakistan
Speaking to ESPN Cricinfo, an unnamed ZC official said,
Due to a very difficult financial situation beyond its control, ZC has been unable to meet some of its obligations, including paying player and staff salaries in time. However, because this is a matter of top priority, ZC has been working round the clock to address the challenge and, as promised to the players by our chairman, ZC expects to start processing payments this week.
