Reactions To Mnangagwa's Commission Of Inquiry Into August 1 Violence, Shooting Of Civilians
After President Emmerson Mnangagwa announced the 7 member Commission of Inquiry to look into the events of August 1, Zimbabweans took to social media to express their opinions. As to be expected people did not really agree on the impartiality of the members of the Commission or the Commission’s mandate. Here is how some people reacted:

Great move by President @edmnangagwa . Kgalema Motlanthe brings respect, independence and important international profile. He will not be leaned on

Why do they have to waste tax payers money appointing a commission when it is a well known fact that the soldiers used live ammunition on protesters. The footage is there they should just apprehend the guys who in turn will point to the people who sent them.Period

Very impressed with the members of the Commission of Enquiry appointed by the President. The international bias is useful as it helps with objectivity.

Madhuku as a losing candidate in an election that led to the violence should have respectfully declined but it seems he doesn't want to waste a good chance. https://t.co/qPs5glUUTL

Rodney Dixon ( one of the commissioners of the August 1 Commission of Inquiry ) was counsel for Kenya's government at the International Criminal Court as it tried to avoid charges against now-President Uhuru Kenyatta related to post-2007 election violence. #Asakhe

Mnangagwa’s “independent” commission of enquiry into the 1 August 2018 includes a well-known ZANU PF cheerleader and a presidential candidate. Another is already a member of another commission of enquiry (into land sales) & is Chair of the Procurement Regulatory Authority. pic.twitter.com/VZt9eWCTc7

There will always be complaints about the inclusion of this or that person. I still have an ounce of hope in me and I would like to reserve it to dare hope that this commission will bring results that will provide closure. An entirely local commission would still hav been savaged https://t.co/KllB1GULt1

Now that Motlanthe has been chosen to head some commission of enquiry, can we hear from those that were saying there was no need for Chamisa to bring in South African lawyers because we have the "best brains"

In all honest this is a joke and the aim is to put blame on @MDCAllianceZW @BitiTendai @BvondoChidziva.
How the likes of @CharityManyeruk are said to be independent is a shock to all. PLEASE @edmnangagwa we are not kids.@Wamagaisa @P_VanDamme_EU @DrVChimhutu @povonewsafrica pic.twitter.com/pFimMGGjRe
