RBZ Says 4 Senior Officials Suspended After Acie Lumumba Rant Are Innocent

In a statement the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) said investigations into four officials suspended in October over corruption allegations show that they did nothing wrong. This is despite the fact that Director of the Financial Intelligence Unit Mirirai Chiremba appeared in court on allegations of criminal abuse of duty. Chiremba was released on $6000 bail when he appeared before Harare magistrate Rumbidzai Mugwagwa.
The four officials were suspended following allegations of corruption and involvement in the foreign currency black market. The allegations were made by then chairman of the communications task force of the Ministry of Finance, Acie Lumumba. We publish the full statement below:
