FC Platinum Snatch A Point With 1-1 Draw Away To Congolese Side, AS Otoho
Zimbabwean champions and representatives in the ongoing Total CAF champions league FC Platinum managed to secure a 1-1 draw away to Congolese side AS Otoho at the Stade Marien Ngouab, Owando on Sunday.
The hosts drew first blood when Matheus Botamba struck in the 20th minute. FC Platinum equalised in the 48th through a strike by William Stima.
Reports indicate that the match was spoiled by poor officiating from Togolese referee Kokou Ntale whose shambolic and embarrassing show got even neutrals on the terraces shaking their heads in disbelief.
In a post-match interview, FC Platinum coach Norman Mapeza bemoaned poor officiating. He said
Everyone saw what was happening here and it’s sad. We are not going anywhere as Africa with such kind of officiating.
Mapeza was, however, elated with the away goal they managed to score. He said
We wanted this goal and we got it. I’m happy we managed to get a draw and I hope when they come to Zimbabwe we will finish them off. We just have to push and remain focused.
