UPDATED: Govt Summons Delta Executives Over US Dollar Prices
The Mail and Telegraph reports that Government has moved in to stop Delta from selling its products in US dollars.
Writing on Twitter, the publication said top Government sources informed them that Minister of Trade & Commerce who is also the Acting Minister of Information, Publicity & Broadcasting Services Hon Nqobizitha Mangaliso Ndlovu has summoned Delta executives for a meeting. Unconfirmed reports say President Mnangagwa is also likely to meet Delta executives. The State owned Herald confirmed Ndlovu will meet Delta bosses on Friday. Ndlovu told the publication he was aware of Delta’s decision, but said he would engage the company to see if that can be reversed. Said Ndlovu:
I have seen it (the letter to customers advising of new pricing structure) but I think we should be meeting them on Friday (tomorrow). That cannot be allowed.
FeedbackThe meeting comes after Delta announced that it will be selling products in foreign currency on the local market starting January 4.
