Mugabe Was Almost Impeached Because Grace Interfered In State Issues: Magaisa Reacts To Mnangagwa's Wife Meeting With Doctors
Constitutional law expert and academic Alex Magaisa said President Mnangagwa’s predecessor Robert Mugabe was almost impeached because of his wife Grace.
Magaisa’s comments come after First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa met with doctors who have been on an industrial action since December 1 last year. The lawyer said Mugabe was almost impeached among other things for allowing his wife to usurp government functions and abrogating his constitutional mandate to his wife. Mugabe’s resignation letter was read in Parliament on November 21 halting an impeachment hearing that had begun against him. Writing on Twitter, Magaisa said:
Lest we forget, this was part of the impeachment motion against Robert Mugabe in 2017:
Feedback• Allowing his wife to usurp government functions and
• Abrogating his constitutional mandate to his wife.
