Mnangagwa Condemned For Announcing A 'Bloated' Advisory Council That Will Get Perks And Other Benefits
President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Wednesday announced a Presidential Advisory Council (PAC), consisting of 24 members.
However, opposition political parties did not see the merits of having such a bloated body that will consequently drain the country’s meagre resources through perks and other benefits.
In an interview with NewZimbabwe.com MDC-T vice president Obert Gutu said;
I would think a smaller group of presidential advisors would be more appropriate.
We also don’t know their terms of reference. Are they paid a regular retainer fee or what?
This obviously has got budgetary implications and in the interest of transparency, the CVs of all members of the team have to be made public. We don’t want another job for the boy or girls scenario.
Jacob Mafume, national spokesperson of the MDC Alliance had this to say:
Do they have his ear, can they change anything?
It’s another group of people who will get fuel and other perks due to accessibility to the President.
