I Have The Capacity: Mwonzora
Douglas Mwonzora, the Secretary General of the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) says he has the capacity to lead the party. He narrated, among other success stories, his journey from the lowest post he has held within the party up to the post he holds now to prove his capacity to lead.
Mwonzora is aware that there are some who believe that he is not the right candidate to face opponents, particularly ZANU PF. Others even accuse him of being a ZANU PF agent. Responding to those allegations, Mwonzora indicated that he is strong considering political hurdles he has encountered so far. He also mentioned that some who do not understand his modus operandi may think he is feeble. Mwonzora said:
Maybe some people think that for one to look strong they must be rude and rough to the opponent. That is wrong. You can be very strong without being uncivil. Mahatma was soft spoken but he had unfathomable inner strength. I believe in planning, strategising and bringing results.
FeedbackThe elective MDC Congress is slotted for the 24th to the 26th of May 2019. Mwonzora is likely to be competing with Nelson Chamisa the current MDC president for the party president position. Chamisa is perceived as the favorite candidate. Chamisa unexpectedly lost to Mwonzora when the duo earlier clashed in a 2014 elective congress for the Secretary General position. He lost by 1 756 to 2464 votes.
