Makepekepe Coach Chitembwe Disappointed Over Cancelled Match
Caps United coach Lloyd Chitembwe is very disappointed over the cancellation of his club’s home Castle Lager Premiership match against Chapungu this weekend. The match was postponed to a future date which has not been confirmed.
Makepekepe was set to host the army side on Sunday in their third match of the 2019 season but the venue is not available until next week.
The National Sports Stadium (NSS) will host the Independence Day celebrations next Thursday and with preparations for that event already in full swing, United cannot host Chapungu this weekend.
Speaking to journalists this week about the cancelled match, Chitembwe said:
To some extent it is very disappointing because we are coming from a long break since November, December thereabouts.
The effect is not very important but it’s just disappointing; we had the momentum and at the same time the confidence levels were very high. You would want to play games in that kind of a situation.
We have started very well and we are happy with the progress; the team looks good and there are chances that we can keep on improving. We are really looking forward to the season.
The NSS was also scheduled to host Mushowani Stars vs FC Platinum and later, Black Rhinos and Bulawayo Chiefs. Both matches were cancelled as well.
