Makepekepe Beat Triangle FC To Go Top

Caps United beat Triangle FC 2-1 on Sunday afternoon at Gibbo Stadium in the Lowveld to go top of the Castle Lager Premiership football table.

Makepepeke drew first blood in the first half through Joel Ngodzo who scored in the first 15 minutes of the match.

Triangle restored parity in the 53rd minute through a fine strike by Simba Makoni.

However, the Green Machine wrapped up the three points when Dominic Chungwa beat the Sugar Sugar Boys goalkeeper in the 83rd minute.

Speaking during a post-match press conference, Triangle coach Taurai Mangwiro saluted Makepekepe for their smartness in picking apart his boys on the break. Said Mangwiro:

Congratulations to CAPS United, they scored at the right moment and every time we were pressuring them, they came at us on the break and scored.

We did well as a team but also as a home side we expected to collect maximum points but I think CAPS United are doing well, it’s three crucial points lost for us.

Mangwiro’s opposite number, Caps United coach Lloyd Chitembwe had this to say:

To our anticipation the game was very difficult, we knew that in the second half they were going to come at us, they came at us and got a goal but we knew that we were going to catch them on the break and that is what we did and collecting maximum points on the road is fantastic.
