MDC Gives Gweru Businesses Shot In The Arm
Lodges and hotels in Zimbabwe’s fourth-largest city, Gweru are said to be fully-booked ahead of the opposition MDC’s elective congress to be held this week to decide the party’s leadership.
6 200 MDC delegates are expected to grace the occasion, a development which has provided a boon for the City of Progress.
The Congress will start by the holding of elections of the youth and women’s assembly leadership on Friday. This was revealed to Newsday by the party’s spokesperson Jacob Mafume. He said:Feedback
Friday afternoon, we are going to have national elections for youth and women assemblies concurrently.
On the same day, we are going to have a national executive meeting.

On Saturday, May 25, 2019, there shall be a congress official opening at Ascot Stadium, where everyone is invited to bear witness on this special, great event, then delegates will be divided into thematic committees.
At 2 pm, the Congress will receive feedback from the thematic committees.
Mafume added that the party’s preparations are now at an advanced stage. He promised that the elections will be held in a transparent manner.
He further revealed that party President Nelson Chamisa will officially open the Congress on Saturday. Elections will then be held on Sunday.
