"President’s Donation Went Straight To Fundraising Committee", ZIFA Boss Speaks Out

The Zimbabwe Football Association president, Felton Kamambo, has revealed that the association never received money from any donor. He said that the money that was raised towards the Africa Cup of Nations finals was never remitted to ZIFA as it went straight to the organising committee.

His revelation comes after the Warriors threatened to boycott their first and AFCON opening match against Egypt tonight over their unpaid US$9000 each.

Kamambo told 263Chat this morning Kamambo that the allegations suggesting that association was misusing the money were not true. He said:

As Zifa, we never got money from anyone meant to fly the supporters to Egypt. I have heard a number of accusations people saying we got money from well-wishers, the money we got ranging from the President’s donation on the night of the dinner, went straight to the fundraising committee. As Zifa we never and will never handle any cent from the donated money. All we are doing is to tell the committee to pay for whatever we want paid for.

Kamambo further assured the Warriors supporters that the associations would see that a section of supporters is assisted to travel to Egypt to go and cheer the Warriors. He said that the “12th men” could not be forgotten.

It was being alleged that ZIFA was intending to use the money from a fuel dealer (name supplied)  to payback the councilors who ushered them into office by affording them a chance to travel to Egypt for the AFCON finals.
