ZANU PF Officials Come Close To A Fist Fight In Explosive Politburo Meeting
Tampers reportedly flared up during a ZANU PF Politburo meeting held on Wednesday with party officials coming close to blows.
Senior party officials were angry with the Youth League after it released names of those it accused of corruption.
A NewZimbabwe.com source revealed that secretary for administration, Obert Mpofu was ready to thrash deputy youth secretary Lewis Matutu in front of President Emmerson Mnangagwa. Said the source:
Mpofu was beside himself with anger.
He threatened to beat up Lewis Matutu in particular. He actually said ‘I will beat you up with open fists.
You are too small and young to point accusing fingers at me’. It was bad and at some point, the whole auditorium watched in awe as he shouted.
Another prominent figure to be implicated in shady deals was Prisca Mupfumira. Another source revealed:
She was also very angry and shouted at Matutu as well as (youth league politburo secretary (Pupurai) Togarepi. They stood accused of pushing a factional agenda.
The only person who seemed to have been ready to defend himself and calmly so was (Minister in President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s office) Joram Gumbo.
He seemed to have been happy that the accusations have been made public and want to cleanse his name.
Meanwhile, President Emmerson Mnangagwa will reportedly set up a Commission of Inquiry into the corrupt activities of the officials who were fingered.
Another source told the publication that President Mnangagwa is suspected to be the brains behind the Youth League’s unprecedented attack on senior party officials.
