Shortlisted Candidates For 2019 UEFA Men’s Player Of The Year Award
UEFA has announced that Portugal star, Cristiano Ronaldo, Barcelona forward, Lionel Messi and Liverpool defence maestro, Virgil Van Dijk have been nominated for the UEFA men’s player of the year award.
The selection was done by a jury of coaches and journalists.
The winner of the prize will be announced along with the UEFA Women’s Player of the Year and UEFA Champions League positional award winners on the 29th of August in Monaco when the Champions League group stage draw will be held.
Real Madrid midfielder, Luka Modric is the current holder of the award after winning the Champions League and leading Croatia at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Virgil Van Dijk is the only new face on the list as Ronaldo and Messi have been shortlisted on a regular basis.
The Liverpool defender had a good season with the Reds which culminated in a Champions League victory.
