Police Launch Investigations Into Bus Stop TV Comedian's Kidnapping
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) said that it is investigating the alleged abduction of Bus Stop TV’s satirist, Samantha “Gonyeti” Kureya.
Gonyeti was on Wednesday night abducted by masked gunmen from her Mufafose home, stripped naked and assaulted and forced to drink sewer water in Crowborough where she was dumped.
Police national spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Nyathi revealed that investigations into the kidnapping are underway after the actor reported the matter to Marimba Police Station. He said:
We can confirm receiving a report of kidnapping and assault of Samantha Kureya which occurred on Wednesday night in Mufakose. We are already conducting investigations into that.
Gonyeti’s abduction is the latest in a series of nocturnal kidnappings involving opposition political activists and human rights defenders.
