ZIFA: The Coach Is Free To Select Any Player He Wants To
Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has said that the Warriors coach has the discretion to select any player he wants as there is no player who was banned.
This was revealed by ZIFA president, Felton Kamambo, whilst addressing members of the media.
There were reports that ZIFA had influenced new Warriors coach, Joey Antipas to leave out some players who were vocal over unpaid allowances during this year’s Afcon Finals played in Egypt.
Some of the players whom the coach is said to have been told to leave are, Khama Billiat, Knowledge Musona, George Chigova, Danny Phiri and Ovidy Karuru.
Kamambo, however, dismissed the allegations saying that no player had been banned. He said:
There is no player who was banned, the coach is free to select any player he wants to.
If you remember there are players like Khama (Billiat), Ovidy (Karuru) who were not part of the first leg but were called up for the second leg.
He added that in the event that a player has been banned, the association officially communicates the development with the player.
