Victor Matemadanda Says Ex-G40 Members Are Welcome To Contest For ZANU PF Posts
ZANU PF Political Commissar, Victor Matemadanda has said that former party members of the dissolved Generation 40 (G4O) are free to participate in the party’s elections.
His remarks come when the party has embarked on a restructuring process which is expected to elect new Provincial leaderships. The Gokwe Central legislator said:
Some will surely be rejected for various reasons but those who fit the criteria will be allowed to contest because it is not about bar- ring the so-called G40 because if an aspiring candidate has no issue with the disciplinary committee, there is no reason to block them.
FeedbackWhat we simply meant was that because the province was dissolved then no one has the right to call for a meeting outside those that were mandated to do so. I think that issue of clandestine meetings was dealt with as people took heed.
G40 was a ZANU PF faction which was reportedly led by the former first lady, Grace Mugabe. Other prominent members include exiled former Cabinet Minister, Saviour Kasukuwere, Patrick Zhuwao and Jonathan Moyo.
Members of the faction which persecuted members of the other faction, Lacoste led by President Emmerson, skipped the country’s borders immediately after the military-assisted transition of 2017.
