SB Moyo To Head SADC Electoral Observer Mission In Botswana

Zimbabwe will lead the SADC Electoral Observer Mission (SEOM) for the elections to be conducted in Botswana on October 23.

In his capacity as chairman of the SADC Organ on Politics, Defence and Security Cooperation (OPDSC), President Emmerson Mnangagwa has appointed Foreign Affairs minister Sibusiso Moyo to head the SEOM in Botswana. Moyo had this to say:

As we launch the Sadc electoral observer mission, our observations will focus on the pre- and post-election periods which include the campaigns, voting day and the process of the counting of the ballot papers.

Botswana’s Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) managed to register 1 273 880 out of a total of 1 592 350 eligible voters and also established 2 294 voting stations across the country.

Moyo also revealed that the SEOM has 55 personnel from 11 Sadc member states and the observers will be deployed in 10 administrative districts of Botswana.
