Macauley Bonne Hopeful Of Playing For The Warriors Again
Charlton Athletic striker Macauley Bonne says he was disappointed not to be part of the Warriors team that played at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations finals in Egypt earlier this year.
Bonne was born in Britain to a Zimbabwean father, and as a British citizen, he was not able to get a Zimbabwean passport on time for the tournament. In an interview with The Herald, he said:
I was disappointed not to go to AFCON (finals in Egypt in June this year) but I’m young, there are still many more opportunities for me to play in a big competition like that.
FeedbackI’ve always been ready, I’m literally waiting for somebody to say it’s done and, hopefully, I can help the country to success and play as many games as I can.
Bonne was signed by English Championship side Charlton Athletic in the June/July transfer window from non-League side Leyton Orient.
He first made his international appearance for Zimbabwe in a friendly international against Morocco in 2014.
