ZESA Gives Update On Load-Shedding
Following last week’s warning that power cuts would be increased due to the tripping of three generator units at Hwange Power Station, local power utility, ZESA has announced that load shedding is now back to stage 1 which entails about 8 hours of power cuts.
ZESA had upgraded load-shedding to stage 2 which is characterised by 18 hours of power cuts. Confirming the development to the Daily News on Tuesday, Zesa Holdings spokesperson, Fullard Gwasira said:
We have reverted back to stage one load shedding. Two units were restored on Sunday while the third unit was restored yesterday (Monday) evening.
FeedbackZimbabwe has a huge power deficit which is attributed to shrinking water levels at Kariba dam and ageing equipment at Hwange Thermal Power Station.
The power situation improved only recently when the country approached South Africa and Mozambique to increase electricity imports.
