ZINARA Fires 30 Cashiers On Fraud And Theft Allegations
The National roads administrator has shown 30 cashiers the door on fraud and theft allegations, the Herald reports. The cashiers were all allegedly involved in scams involving 4 tollgates and the supervisors and police officers manning those tollgates are reportedly involved in the scams.
The ZINARA CEO confirmed the story to the publication and said:
The dismissed cashiers have been using various methods to steal from the organisation, which included punching registration numbers of exempted vehicles on non-exempted ones.
FeedbackThey would punch details of exempted cars on any other vehicles without exemption. The system would automatically record that an exempted car has passed, when cameras showed that it was actually another vehicle not on exemption.
However, during the congestion moment, cashiers would be collecting cash from motorists by opening the boom gate manually. This allowed some vehicles to just pass through without being issued with receipts,
ZINARA is suspecting that it might have lost millions due to activities similar to this which may never be unearthed. However, ZINARA has been rocked with scandals of different nature in the past few years.
