Violent Storm Injures 2 People, Destroy Infrastructure In Beitbridge
Heavy winds struck Shashe community in Beitbridge, Matebeleland South Province on Thursday leaving two people injured and some houses, schools, churches and some structures at the business centre uninhabitable.
The storm also destroyed solar panels at Shashe clinic, a development that will affect the storage of medicines especially vaccines that need temperature control.
ZBC News that the winds also blew away the roof of a classroom block at Shashe High school while some teachers’ houses were also affected.
The publication also reports that Electricity pylons were also brought down, leaving the business centre and the school with no power, while some shops were also badly damaged.
Beitbridge District Administrator, Kelibone Ndou and his team have since gone to assess the situation on the ground.

Meanwhile, Manicaland Province was also affected by the storms leaving some classroom blocks without roofs whilst a grade 1 pupil died in Lupane as the violent storm struck the school.
