Govt Accused Of Involvement In Chief Ndiweni's Suspension

The government has been accused of triggering the suspension of outspoken Ntabazinduna chief, Nhlanhlayamangwe Felix Ndiweni by fellow chiefs.

Chief Ndiweni’s spokesperson Nothiwani Dlodlo is of the view that the chief’s suspension is illegal and political. He said:

The issue was resolved long back and now this? Also, this issue was never on the agenda for that meeting held on Saturday.

Issues on the agenda included the need for roads rehabilitation and hunger, among others but it was smuggled in.

Matabeleland North traditional leaders’ provincial assembly met in Bulawayo last week and resolved that Chief Ndiweni should be suspended.

When Chief Nhlanhla was enthroned several years ago, his brother Joram had approached the High Court, challenging the former’s chieftainship and the court has not yet made a ruling over the matter.
