"Don't Get Involved In ZANU PF, Stay Away And Organise Yourselves," MDC Told
3 years ago
The director of the Harare-based Zimbabwe Democracy Institute (ZDI), Pedzisai Ruhanya, has advised opposition parties in Zimbabwe to learn from past experiences and avoid meddling in ZANU PF affairs.
His remarks come when there are reports suggesting that the opposition MDC was taking sides in alleged factionalism in the ruling party, reports which the MDC has refuted. Posting on Twitter, Ruhanya said:
Getting involved in ZANU PF is not the wisest thing to do by the opposition. The last time ZANU PF fought and the opposition took sides against Mugabe, they lost just like Mugabe. Stay away and organise yourselves.
FeedbackMDC supported the removal of the late former president of Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe in 2017 but the party was later told by the ruling ZANU PF that it was getting involved in party affairs as it was the ZANU PF that had removed Mugabe.
The MDC had backed Mugabe’s removal hoping that the transition would result in the establishment of a transitional authority which would temporarily manage the affairs of the country until the 2018 elections.
