"So Better Watch Out, The Rankings Are Coming," Finance Minister Warns Parastatals
Finance Minister, Professor Mthuli Ncube has warned heads of parastatals against sleeping on duty saying that low mark results will put them in trouble.
It is our expectation that when the rating of the entities in terms of their compliance with good corporate governance takes place as from 2020, no entity shall be found wanting as this may reflect badly on the board and senior management. So better watch out, the rankings are coming and you don’t want to be found wanting as a board or senior management charged with leading SEPs.
Ncube speaks when most of the parastatals in the country have for years been failing to meet set targets with the Auditor General’s reports always showing that corruption was rampant in these state-owned parastatals.
Under the ongoing reforms, some parastatals are being merged whilst some are being privatised to minimise government interference.
