Former Minister Urges ED To Dump POLAD & Engage Chamisa

A former cabinet minister said the Political Actors Dialogue (POLAD) is made up of useless political leaders who have no following and are therefore of no consequence.

Tshinga Dube, who at one point was the Minister for War Veterans Affairs, said President Emmerson Mnangagwa should engage in dialogue with the leader of the MDC, Nelson Chamisa.  Speaking at the launch of his book ‘Quiet the Zambezi Flows’ in Harare on Wednesday, Dube said:

Our leader ED and Chamisa should meet and discuss as the Kenyans did. POLAD has useless political leaders. People who have no following and of no consequence. People who just aspire for power.

It’s unlike Chamisa who is relevant because he is leading the majority (of opposition supporters) and has a big following just like us (Zanu PF).

POLAD was initiated by President Mnangagwa soon after the disputed 2018 presidential election and it is made up of the losing presidential candidates.

Considering that all the losing candidates apart from Chamisa (21 in number), won less than 7 per cent of the total votes, the MDC leader has refused to be part of the dialogue process, insisting on meeting Mnangagwa one-on-one.
