We Are Not In The Correct Frame Of Mind - Teachers In Fresh Strike Threat
Teachers have said they don’t see schools opening in 2 weeks time because they are incapacitated, the Daily News reports.
Represented by the unions ZIMTA, PTUZ and ARTUZ, the teachers said the situation at hand is critical:
Our schools will not be opening in January. Parents are failing to secure learning materials for their kids, learners are psychologically not ready and teachers have been rendered severely incapacitated. No teaching and learning is feasible under these unfortunate circumstances – ARTUZ’s Obert Masaraure
FeedbackThis is the same salary expected to have taken them through the Christmas and New Year holidays and take them back to school. If this is not slave wages, nothing can ever be. ZIMTA’s Tapson Sibanda
Teachers are not in the correct frame of mind and learners are in an equal predicament. Their parents are facing serious challenges and it is impossible for anybody to imagine a situation where school is going to open and normalcy becomes the order of the day. I see it next to impossible for the term to start in January … the situation on the ground makes it impossible for anybody to talk of schools reopening this term- PTUZ’s Raymond Majongwe
The government had promised civil servants a festive season cushioning allowance and reneged on their promise in the 11th hour.
