Luxembourg Make All Public Transport Free
Luxembourg a small country in Europe with effect from yesterday made all its public transport free, CNN Travel reports. This means residents can now access trains, trams and buses for free.
The development was exacerbated by the country’s congestion issues which are also emanating from a “booming economy” and a high concentration of jobs according to the publication.
It’s reported that in 2016, there were 662 cars per 1000 people which would result in motorists spending up to 33 hours stuck in traffic jams.
The free transportation will cover the whole country and cost the Luxembourg government $562 million per year.
