Mapeza Reveals Why He Left Chippa United
Former FC Platinum coach Norman Mapeza said he resigned from the position of head coach at Chippa United because he does not feel he is the right man to guide the club to the attainment of its objectives.
In his resignation letter leaked to South African media, the former Monomotapa and Warriors coach wrote to Chippa United:
I hereby give notice to terminate my contract with Chippa United with immediate effect.
FeedbackIt is my view that the team is in need of a new voice. As it stands, I do not feel I am able to get the team where it is expected to be for reasons including, but not limited to, the short amount of time I have worked with the team vis-à-vis the expectation of the club and its management.
The club may benefit from new set of hands with a different skill set and coaching approach.
It is my hope that we can reach mutual agreement pertaining to the termination of this contract and severe the relationship in an amicable way.
Meanwhile, the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality, the club’s main sponsors were not happy with the manner of Mapeza’s departure.
The municipality’s mayor, Marlon Daniels accused the club of what he called a lack of visionary leadership, a clumsy management style and an obvious lack of understanding of the business of football.
