An Internal Audits Uncovers ZBC CEO's Financial Misconduct And Indiscipline - Report
ZBC acting CEO, Wisdom Hombarume is caught up in a scandal as an internal audit has unearthed some of his financial misconduct and indiscipline activities, Zim Morning Post reports.
The matter is reportedly emanating from a trip that Hombarume was supposed to take to Botswana for a SADC Channel TV summit but he decided to take a private trip to South Africa instead when the broadcaster had already paid for the Botswana trip.
A source close to the development told the publication that:
A payment of US$ 1,244.00 towards the purchase of an air ticket of Hombarume was made on 30th of January 2020.
Hombarumbe was scheduled to travel to Botswana on Saturday 8 February via Johannesburg. Everyone thought he had managed to go to Botswana during the said period because he was not in the country.
His absence from the workshop came to light when Zimbabwe failed to be represented in the CEOs meetings at the said workshop. ZBC authorities began to look for him and at the material time he kept telling them he was in Botswana. It was until on March 9 that he revealed that he did not attend the workshop
Hombarume reportedly used $6700 he received for the Botswana trip to fund the trip to South Africa and to repair ZBC equipment but cannot produce receipts and invoices for the repairs. He also claimed he was in South Africa on official business as he was invited by the Star Media.
