Komichi Narrates How Thabani Mpofu Convinced Chamisa To Appeal At SC Against Advise From Hwende, Chidziva, Chibaya,
Opposition MDC official Morgen Komichi has said that he, together with Chalton Hwende, Happymore Chidziva and Amos Chibaya, tried to persuade party leader Nelson Chamisa not to appeal against a High Court ruling.
Komichi’s remarks come when Chamisa and his supporters are refusing to accept the ruling of the Supreme Court on the party’s leadership crisis that reduced Chamisa to a Secretary of Policy and Research in the party while Thokozani Khupe was reinstated as the leader.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Zim Morning Post, Komichi said that they approached Chamisa and advised him not to appeal but to hold a congress to correct the violation of the party constitution. He said:
We made our presentation to Chamisa at his advocate chambers offices. He did not respond to my advice but invited advocate Thabani Mpofu.
Mpofu argued saying he had found 11 faults in the judgment so there was need for an appeal and promised that he was going to win at the Supreme court.
Komichi claims that he had realised how serious the issues raised by “MDC-T acting president Thokozani Khupe” were.
Meanwhile, some MDC officials claim that Chamisa appealed the ruling because “there is confusion in the judiciary about the multiple and separate MDC political formations. The MDC Alliance did not want to fall victim to the confusion in a manner that would have disturbed the party from holding its congress in Gweru.”
