2 Deportees Fined $800 Each For Skipping COVID-19 Quarantine

Two men who were deported from Botswana last month were last week fined $800 each for escaping from quarantine at Bulawayo Polytechnic.
Moses Gondo (41) and Silas Zimunya (44) appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Shepherd Mjanja on Saturday last week and were charged with violating quarantine regulations meant to curb the spread of COVID-19.
The two pleaded guilty to the charge and were ordered to pay $800 each with an option of three months in jail.
Gondo and Zimunya claimed that they were chasing someone who had stolen their money when they left the isolation facility.
