"Another MDC National Council Meting Flops," - Pedzisai Ruhanya
Opposition MDC activist Pedzisai Ruhanya has claimed a meeting of the party’s MDC National Council, constituted of 2014 structures, that was slated for this Monday ended prematurely, again.
Ruhanya who is also the director of the Harare-based Zimbabwe Democracy Institute (ZDI), posted on Twitter claiming that the meeting was called off after attendees started insulting each other. He said:
*MDC-T Whatsapp National Council flops*
FeedbackAfter failing to have enough numbers to constitute MDC-T National Council as per 2014 structures, they tried today to have a National Council via WhatsApp group but the meeting ended prematurely as there were insults after insults.
Two other meetings were also reportedly called off recently amid reports that the first one failed to constitute a quorum while the second one had degenerated into chaos.
The development comes when party insiders allege that a conflict has arisen between reinstated party leaders, Thokozani Khupe (president) and Douglas Mwonzora (Secretary-General) over the best way to whip party members into line.
Khupe is reportedly advocating for the recalling of more party legislators to create room for her allies while Mwonzora is reportedly dragging his feet.
There is reportedly resistance from other party members who want dialogue between Khupe and Chamisa.
