Chamisa Challenges Mwonzora Over MDC Alliance Remarks

Opposition leader Nelson Chamisa has challenged MDC-T secretary-general Douglas Mwonzora’s assertion that the MDC Alliance is not a political party but was a coalition of seven political parties which dissolved after the 2018 General Elections.
The MDC Alliance president, who was unanimously elected at the party’s congress in Gweru last year, asked if ZANU PF ceased to exist when ZANU and ZANU merged in 1987 in a pact known as the Unity Accord. Chamisa tweeted:
Is Zanu pf not a political party because it is an alliance or a unity accord between Zanu and Zapu?
In an interview with ZBC News reporter Justin Mahlahla earlier on Tuesday, Mwonzora said that the MDC Alliance is not a political party but an electoral pact which ceased to exist at the end of the 2018 harmonised elections.
