Lover Narrates How Her Fiance Was Fatally Shot By Suspected Police Officers
Suspected police officers fatally shot Paul Munakopa, a 34-year-old Bulawayo man on Saturday night leaving the man’s spouse devastated.
Munakopa’s spouse Tracey Mufudzi told CITE during an interview that her fiance was shot around 10 pm along Caithness Road in Hillside and he succumbed to the gunshot wounds at United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH) in the early hours of Sunday morning.
She said the Toyota Fortuner which was being driven by the suspected police officers and suspected members of the neighbourhood watch had nothing to show that it was being driven by police.
Mufudzi added that the accused shot at them without firing warning shots after chasing them for some time adding that one white man told the police that Munakopa was bleeding and asked for something to help prevent blood loss. She added:
The man then called for an ambulance, more police officers came to the scene. I asked them why they didn’t fire warning shots, the cops said they fired at us because we did not stop.
She added that at United Bulawayo Hospitals, Paul was only given painkillers with health caregivers saying he would be operated in the morning but he died in the early hours of Sunday.
