FULL TEXT: COVID-19 Patient Gives Birth In Zimbabwe
One of the four COVID-I9 cases in the Midlands Province who was in quarantine after returning to Zimbabwe has successfully given birth with health officials saying both the mother and the baby are well.
This was announced by Dr Matchaba Hove-who the Executive Dean, Faculty Of Medicine at the Midlands State University.

RE: FIRST CAESARIAN SECTION ON COVID-19 PATIENT IN ZIMBABWE
This is to inform you that with the authorization of the Medical Superintendent of Gwen Provincial Hospital. Dr Fabian Mashingaidze, the first-ever Caesarian section on a COVID-19 pregnant woman in Zimbabwe was successfully conducted today at Gwcru Provincial Hospital under strict infection prevention and control measures. The patient is one of the four COVID-I9 citizens in the Midlands Province who was in quarantine after returning to Zimbabwe. The obstetrician who carried out the successful operation was Dr Johannes Mukwcmbi of the MSU Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The attending anaesthetists were Dr Tafadzwa Mutukwa and Dr Prince Tincyi Murambi of the MSU Department of Anaesthesia. Both the mother and baby are well and will spend the next three days in an isolation room adjacent to the operating theatre.
We sincerely thank the team for their benevolent spirit and work ethic to assist a fellow Zimbabwean, in spite of the stigma, fear and danger associated with COVID-I 9.
