Mpilo Hospital Bans Patient's Visitors Indefinitely
Bulawayo’s Mpilo Central Hospital has banned patients’ visits indefinitely after recording four COVID-19 cases in a single day early this week.
A nurse working at the hospital and three other people tested positive for the coronavirus on Thursday and authorities have now imposed the indefinite ban on visits to curb the spread of the virus. Mpilo Hospital spokesperson Ozias Ndlovu said:
We have issued a notice that visitors should, with immediate effect, stop visiting their loved one since there is an outbreak of the virus here. We are just taking precautionary measures as we try to make sure everyone is safe from the virus.
FeedbackWe are not really sure when this ban will last because we need to assess the situation so that we don’t expose everyone to danger.
Zimbabwe has experienced a sharp spike in COVID-19 cases, mainly from citizens returning from South Africa and Botswana.
It is feared that the virus could be spreading silently within the quarantine centres as people mix and mingle freely without personal protective equipment.
