Govt Sets Up A Health Surveillance Team To Embark On A Door To Door Campaign Treating & Testing Severe Diarrhoea Cases In Bulawayo
The government has responded to the diarrhoea outbreak in Bulawayo by setting up a technical and a health surveillance team to conduct door to door campaigns to treat and test severe cases after 9 people reportedly died from the outbreak, ZBC News reports.
Luveve has been recording diarrhoea cases for 2 weeks now and residents are blaming the council for the cases saying the water they are receiving from the council is contaminated.
This was revealed by Minister of Local government and Public works, July Moyo after touring Luveve Clinic yesterday. Moyo said:
The health and surveillance team has been sent out to treat severe diarrhoea cases from home. We have also tasked the city with testing those affected with diarrhoea for COVID-19
The Bulawayo City council has started treating all diarrhoea cases for free and has also started a door to door treatment campaign and referring all serious cases to Mpilo and exempting them from paying ambulance fees.
Residents yesterday staged a demo by dumping mock coffins at the Luveve housing office protesting the contaminated water which reportedly led to the 9 deaths.
