Soldiers Beat Up Vendors In Pomona And Vainona
Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) officers reportedly rounded and beat up informal traders in Vainona and Pomona suburbs in northern Harare on Saturday.
This was witnessed by MDC Alliance national spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere who tweeted:
Yesterday [Saturday], I witnessed an army truck rounding up vendors and beating them up for trading in Vainona and Pomona. This [government] is anti-poor.
FeedbackHow can it criminalise earning a living when it has destroyed the economy, there are no jobs and there’s no social security? We need new leaders.
This comes after recent reports have claimed that soldiers assaulted residents and looted goods from vendors, including potatoes and vegetables in Warren Park.
Two journalists, Tinashe Chokodza (263Chat) and Leopold Munhende (NewZimbabwe.com) were also assaulted and injured while on their way home from work.
