Macauley Bonne's Charlton Athletic Relegated To League One
Charlton Athletic suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat at the hands of newly-crowned English Championship champions, Leeds United on Wednesday night and suffered relegation from the second-tier of English football.
Zimbabwe international striker Macauley Bonne started the match alongside Josh Davison in coach Lee Bowyer’s 5-3-2 formation.
Bonne was hauled off in the 79th minuted and replaced with Andre Green.
Leeds scored through Ben White (14), Stuart Dallas (28), Tyler Roberts (51) and Jamie Jamie Shackleton (66).
Following the heavy defeat, Charlton Athletic were relegated to the EFL League One, the third tier of English football.
They finished the 2019/20 season 22nd on the log, with only 48 points from 46 games.
Meanwhile, Tendayi Darikwa’s Nottingham Forest were hammered 4-1 by Stoke City, finishing the season 7th, thus failing to make it to the playoffs.
