MSD Forecasts Heavy Rain Across The Country
The Meteorological Services Department (MSD) says heavy rains are expected in the country starting late today and tomorrow (Wednesday).
MSD chief forecaster, James Ngoma told ZTN that members of the public should avoid being caught outdoors during heavy storms. He said:
There should be widespread rains across much of the country, spreading from Matabeleland South into Matabeleland North as well as parts of Bulawayo Metropolitan as of today.
FeedbackTomorrow they should spread into parts of Midlands and much of the Mashonaland provinces.
Earlier, the MSD warned that hailstorm occurrence was possible and potential destruction to property and life, with strong winds being able to blow off rooftops.
To be safe from experiencing lightning strikes, the public has been urged to remember the 30-30 rule.
The rule says if lightning is seen in a distance and one cannot count 30 seconds before the sound of thunder, then there is a potential of lightning strikes.
Under such conditions, people should stay indoors for 30 minutes after the last rumble.
